the word 'machine' originated from the world --- in Greek [μηχάνημα] and machine from Latin [machina].
It means sophisticated crafts and inventions.
Definition
The dictionary definition of ‘machine’ is an apparatus consisting of interrelated parts, used in transmission or modification. However, it is difficult to apply such definition to modern days as technology convergence is accelerated.

Korea established structure and institutional definition for promotion and growth of machinery industry, through enactment of machinery industry promotion law legislated in 1967

Machines and Apparatuses defined by Article 2 of Machine Industry Act and specified in Article 1 of Enforcement Ordinance of Promotion of Machine Industry Act


Article 2 Machine Industry is an industry producing(including processing) and assembling machine and apparatuses(including parts) or structures. (enacted in March, 1967 and abolished in January, 1986)
