Common machinery industry characteristic and categories
A. Characteristics
The machinery industry plays a major role in humanistic development at a pivotal turning point such as industrialization, and ranges to all lives of men, including transformation (vehicles, ships, air planes) and product production (machinery and textile machines), exploring unreached spaces (spaceships, deep sea vessel), examination and cure, control, measurement ( medical machine and measuring machines).
Categorization and scope of machinery industry
KOAMI: Korea Association of Machinery Industry calculates essential statistics based on Korea standardized industry category introduced by Korea Statistical Office in 1976.
In 1968, based on the machinery industry promotion law, KOAMI was established to prepare KOAMI CODE structure which categorizes machinery industry into 5 subdivided categories –normal machinery, electronic machinery, precision machine, metal processing machine, and transportation machine. KOAMI also proposed scope and categorization of machinery industry through 1976 machinery industry handbook.
Afterwards, machinery industry categorization as well as the a revision of KSIC will be updated every time due to changing in industrial structure
